Innovation at REMONDIS
As part of REMONDIS Australia’s mission to view waste as a resource, we embrace the circular economy – and find it often inspires our innovation practice as we bring decades of expertise from our worldwide operations to solve local challenges.
Across the globe, the waste management sector is undergoing a fundamental repositioning from waste collection to resource recovery – creating new opportunities for progressive businesses. Wasteful commercial and industrial processes are coming under closer examination from consumers and regulators alike, underpinning a growing focus on the circular economy, or ‘zero waste’. It’s fertile ground for innovation.
What's that picture? Australia‘s first zero-emission waste collection vehicle is now in commercial operation, serving the communities of Shellharbour and Wollongong. Read on
FUTURE is a fully-integrated, total support system for municipal waste collection and management, using best of breed technology from Wastedge and 3Logix. Using an integrated suite of sophisticated technology, FUTURE informs communities and provides Councils with greater transparency.
From an operational perspective, the FUTURE Total Support System provides our drivers with in-cab connectivity. They have access to live collection route information and service alerts, and can also log service exceptions without disruption to collection operations. The automated and integrated system of cameras, GPS tracking, real time service time/date logs, service counters and weight sensors allows our drivers to capture precise service data with minimal manual input; allowing drivers to focus on service delivery and safety.
Safety is paramount at REMONDIS and FUTURE provides our drivers with a 360- degree view around the collection vehicles, and provides supervisors with remote vehicle monitoring, including weight and GPS tracking.
For our Council clients, FUTURE provides comprehensive, timely and accurate data, which provides the Council with increased transparency and greater oversight in the management and performance of the waste and recycling collection contract.
Multiple cameras affixed to collection vehicles provide 360-degree external, in cabin and hopper views. Installs start with a four-camera complement which can be supplemented from a diverse model suite.
Driver touch screen view and Digital Video Recording (DVR) features provide safety assurance, enhanced complaint investigation capability, and operational efficiencies.
Sensors affixed to the vehicle detect proximity risks. Automation extends to alerting drivers and prevention or disablement of operations.
Waste stream exception identification (such as non-organic materials in organics bins) can be logged upon observation via the in-cabin touch screen for later inspection.
Telematics provide real time driver and vehicle tracking, as well as configurable safety features such as a scheduled break alerts for fatigue management compliance (and breach), automatic speed limit invocation and route optimisation. Customer and operation centric systems provide real time insight into collection proficiency, route integrity and timeliness and communications with drivers and public.
Real-time weight recording of materials upon collection is a feature of FUTURE. Financial associations such as billings and rebate metrics can be captured, forecast and billed, with weight trend analysis also available.
