Resource Recovery Facilities
These facilities, often referred to as either Material Recycling Facilities (which generally receive co-mingled waste) or Resource Recovery Facilities (which receive mixed waste) are designed to remove and sort recyclables into individual commodities – including cardboard, plastics, glass, wood and metals – which can then be used to manufacture new products.
In Australia, REMONDIS operates these facilities in NSW, Queensland, ACT and Western Australia.
Locally, through our Commodity Trading Desk, we sell materials to a growing number of businesses that value and can use them – contributing to the zero-waste circular economy and creating new value for our customers.

Organics Resource Recovery Facilities
Organics Resource Recovery Facilities (ORRFs), also known as Organics Recycling Facilities, are specialised facilities designed to collect and transform food and garden scraps into high-quality compost and soil conditioner.
REMONDIS is an international leader in the treatment of organic waste, operating over 75 organics processing facilities and recycling 2,700,000 tonnes of organic waste each year.
Here in Australia, we operate several of these facilities including our awarding winning Lake Macquarie Organics Recycling Facilities, the first in-tunnel composting facility in Australia.
We work with local councils to develop combined food organics and garden organics (FOGO) collection solutions that convert over 70,000 tonnes of organic waste into high-quality compost and soil enhancing products every year.

Liquid waste treatment and processing
REMONDIS operates liquid waste processing and treatment facilities across Australia. These provide for the safe management, recycling or disposal of liquids including grease traps, waste water, sludge, sewer and storm water – as well as hazardous liquid waste including oily waters, paint, solvents, chemicals, acids and alkalis.
Here in Australia, REMONDIS’ Industrial Services division manages liquid processing facilities in NSW, VIC and WA, including specialised facilities for sludge recycling, hazardous and regulated liquid processing and liquid quarantine waste management.
