EVENT
On 27 November, REMONDIS’s Integrated and Managed Services division (REMONDIS IMS) hosted a highly anticipated Brisbane Waste Facility Tour Day, offering our clients a unique opportunity to explore some of the most advanced waste management facilities in the region.
Led by Trent Morton, Kieran Myers, and Brendan Ridge, the tour provided behind-the-scenes access and valuable insights into the innovative technologies and sustainable practices shaping the future of waste management.
Clients joined us from Dulux, Queensland Rail, PepsiCo, Aurizon, Allied Pinnacle, O'Briens Glass and Virgin Australia.
The tour began at REMONDIS Rocklea Resource Recovey Facility, a busy commercial transfer station and resource recovery facility, where attendees were introduced to the processes used to receive, manage and recycle commercial waste streams.
Next was NuGrow Ipswich, looking at how organic waste is transformed into products including soil conditioners and compost, showcasing the growing role of organics resource recovery in reducing landfill dependency.
The tour continued to REMONDIS Swanbank Renewable Energy and Waste Management Facility, a multi-faceted site hosting large-scale resource recovery activities, product destruction plant, multi-cell landfill disposal and advanced energy recovery via methane extraction from landfill – the latter facility operated in joint venture with LMS Energy.
The next stop was Pure Environmental (formerly WestRex) at Wacol, exploring advanced materials recycling processes.
The final leg of the tour took the group to SIMS Metal, a leading metal recycling facility, followed by ResourceCo Hemmant. At both locations, our clients learned about the role of metal and construction waste recycling in reducing landfill volume and promoting resource conservation.

Throughout the day, REMONDIS IMS demonstrated how its successful partnerships with specialist processing and recycling companies make ambitious recovery and environmental targets possible.
The event was not just an opportunity to see the latest in waste management technology – which we certainly did – but also a chance for REMONDIS IMS’s clients to deepen their understanding of the collaborative partnerships and integrated processes that combine to enable end-to-end waste management solutions. It’s what REMONDIS IMS does best.
Before you ask – yes, more tours are planned in the new year. Current clients should contact their Project Manager for details. Prospective clients should contact REMONDIS IMS’ National Sales & Marketing Manager Brendan Ridge on 1300 660 453.
