ANNOUNCEMENT

Every two years REMONDIS Australia takes to the stage to celebrate excellence in our operations, projects and people. It’s a time to acknowledge and celebrate the collaborative effort and individual achievements which create value for our customers and colleagues – and it’s never a simple task to select the winner in each category!

The 2024 National Awards were presented at REMONDIS Australia’s National Conference held at the Gold Coast in June.

Today – in the interest of brevity – we’ll just call out the projects which garnered the loudest applause on the night.

Operational Collaboration Award

WINNER: A collaboration between the teams at Environmental Treatment Solutions (ETS) and REMONDIS Tomago Resource Recovery Facility to find a better disposal solution for liquid and solid hydrocarbon waste – ultimately creating a valuable recovered resource from what had been a costly disposal challenge.

Shortlisted projects in this category included a very clever technical solution for bulk sorting and separation of CDS inputs in Western Australia, an invention by our QLD product destruction team to enable processing of multiple beer kegs at once, and the innovative redeployment of surplus activated carbon filters to enable liquid decontamination processing in Victoria.

“The impressive shortlist of projects in this category all demonstrate collaboration to achieve operational improvements, with great outcomes.” – Alex Hatherly, COO

Safety Initiative Award

WINNER: A project to design and implement a new sign-in and induction process at our REMONDIS Dandenong South Liquid Waste Processing Plant.

“This year’s shortlist highlights projects demonstrating cross-functional collaboration and initiative to improve safety management at the branch level.” – Olga Fadeeva, EGM People & Safety

Customer Experience (CX) Innovation Award

WINNER: A new process to smoothly welcome new customers to our South Australian business. With a laser-focus on improving the customer’s experience, the local Sales, Operations and Customer Service teams devised a new way of working to ensure customers get the service and clear communications they expect, every time.

Shortlisted projects in this category included applications devised by REMONDIS Australia’s in-house digital technology team, which continues to create value for customers, including Nespresso and Paintback.

“Customer-focused innovation is occurring every day, right across our business – with technology, people and process improvements deployed to ensure that REMONDIS is a trusted and trouble-free choice.” – Nathan Radley, CSO
