REMONDIS Australia // 28 March 2024
REMONDIS Australia’s shift toward renewable power began in 2022
The company’s in-house Technical Team is managing solar PV installations across the country, supported by EnergyLink Services and Atlas Renewables
12 operational sites have now received photovoltaic panel installations, with more planned
ENVIRONMENT
REMONDIS Australia is on a mission to reduce the carbon footprint of energy used in its far-flung operations – which extend from far north Queensland 3,000kms south to Melbourne and 3,300 kms west to Perth.
The company’s National Solar Initiative, commencing in 2022, has now completed solar photovoltaic panel installations across 12 operational branches. To date, this initiative has delivered solar PV capacity of 776 kW – a material increase in renewable energy generation capacity.
As a result, energy generated from solar sources in 2023 was 905,000 kWh. More solar PV installations are in the pipeline, with solar projected to deliver, on average, 18% of REMONDIS Australia’s total energy demand.
Managing the carbon cost of REMONDIS’s own operations is a natural extension of the company’s focus on waste reduction and environmental value. We think of it as 'working for the future'.
REMONDIS initially engaged EnergyLink Services to conduct a full feasibility study for solar installations across all its sites, which resulted in a staged delivery approach. The solar PV systems include full system monitoring and integration and are being installed by Atlas Renewables.
Solar photovoltaic panels and supporting infrastructure have been installed as far afield as Springmount in northern Queensland (a disposal facility operated in joint venture with FGF Developments), Wingfield in South Australia and Henderson in Western Australia – all part of the company’s National Solar Initiative.
REMONDIS’s in-house Technical Team have completed solar installations in the following locations:
REMONDIS Port Macquarie Organic Resource Recovery Facility
Springmount Waste Management Facility
REMONDIS Lake Macquarie Organics Resource Recovery Facility
REMONDIS Henderson Liquid Processing Plant (2 properties)
REMONDIS Dandenong South Waste Processing Plant
REMONDIS Wingfield Resource Recovery Facility
REMONDIS Seven Hills Resource Recovery Facility
REMONDIS Rocklea Resource Recovery Facility
REMONDOS Coolaroo (2 properties)
Next up in the deployment plan is more capacity at REMONDIS Wingfield in SA, plus new installations at REMONDIS Tomago Resource Recovery Facility in the Hunter region of NSW and REMONDIS Northgate Resource Recovery Facility in QLD.
